As far as I know that is not possible. You only can do by Passtrough. I know that is possible.

So it seems like it is time to get Star (clone, original too expensive for the use I have for it) to be covered if MaxiSys fails on these things...

What do you know about Abrites, is that a good option? Expensive (think I would buy a clone to see functionality before buying the real deal but if working with it big time would really go for the original one!)

Abrites seems to be very good but expensive i have an old c3 stat from 2010 with 09.14 software and works very well indeed..if you do lots of mercs i recommend it

If it's a used ECU you can not done that with Autel or with OEM tool.

For used ECU we have to use special software or Abrites, but in this last case very expensive and only original works well.

Some ECU are very cheap, if you get in count the time that you lost to change the VIN, the  money that you pay to do that, etc...
